Arab Commander Mohannad Killed in Chechnya

KavKaz Center, a media outlet long affiliated with the Islamic Emirate of the Caucasus (IEC), has confirmed the killing of an Arab commander, Mohannad, in Chechnya by Russian security forces. Mohannad was at the center of a "fitna" (sever discord) among the IEC that resulted in a number of Chechen commanders leaving the IEC after criticizing its leader, Dokku Umarov. Mohannad and these commanders were severely criticized by the IEC and its allies abroad including Abu Muhammad al-Maqdisi, arguably the most influential living jihadi-Salafi scholar, and Abu Basir al-Tartusi, a Syrian jihadi-takfiri Salafi shaykh living in Britain.

Despite claims that individuals such as Mohannad are "Al-Qaeda Central (AQC) members",the available evidence is contested, at best.

Information about martyrdom of Arab volunteer Mohannad confirmed

Publication time: 22 April 2011, 14:44

A confirmation about the martyrdom of an Arab volunteer Mohannad has been received from Chechnya. Meanwhile, information about the place of the battle is still contradicting.

It is to be recalled that yesterday late at night the occupation sources declared that Mohannad martyred east of Serzhen-Yurt village during a battle between Russian invaders against a group of the Mujahideen.

Earlier, the ringleader of Chechen minion Kadyrov made a statement about the martyrdom of Mohannad, who declared that the Arab volunteer has been identified by people who knew him personally.

It was also reported that a native of Ingushetia martyred along with Mohannad the in battle.

Initially the puppet sources said that a shootout took place in the village of Serzhen-Yurt, which borders the village of Avtury, during which they killed 2 Mujahideen.

The KC sources in Chechnya reported that there was not any gunfire in the village of Avtury on Thursday. It was only reported about 3 armored trucks with armed invaders driving through the village towards the woods.

According to the latest data, the battle took place near the village of Nikihat. Accurate data on the number of Mujahideen who took part in the combat there is not available.

Meanwhile, the ringleader of Chechen minions Kadyrov said that according to Russian secret services "Mohhanad was a former military pilot of one of the Middle Eastern countries" and supposedly "studied in the US".

The Russian stooge hopes that the martyrdom Mohhanad will strike a severe blow to the Mujahideen.

It is to be recalled that before arriving in Chechnya Mohannad participated in the jihad in Bosnia, Kosovo, the Philippines and Afghanistan. He arrived in Chechnya in 1999, fought under the command of Emir Khattab, Abu Walid then and Abu-Havs. In recent years, he participated in battles mainly in eastern Ichkeria (Province Nokhchicho), operating in the units of the Eastern Front. He was the Deputy Military Emir for some time.

In autumn 2010, in connection with a well-known discord on the withdrawal of three Chechen commanders, headed by Mohannad, out of subornation to Emir of Caucasus Emirate, Emir Dokku Abu Usman disgraced Mohannad to a private and dismissed him, the fronts were disbanded and structurally reorganized.
