My New Article in Journal "Perspectives on Terrorism" on Virginia Cyber Jihadi-takfiri Zachary "Abu Talha al-Amriki" Chesser

I have a new article in the journal Perspectives on Terrorism, "Zachary Chesser: An American Grassroots Jihadist Strategist." The abstract is below:

Zachary Chesser (alias Abu Talhah al-Amrikee), a prolific 20-year-old online jihadist pundit, was arrested on 21 July 2010 for allegedly attempting to join the Somali jihadist group Al-Shabab. Before his arrest, Chesser produced numerous analytical and strategic writings aimed at ensuring that the transnational jihadist movement represented by Al-Qaeda’s Senior Leadership (AQSL) continues to exist beyond the present generation. In his last major essay, Chesser attempted to develop and propose a grassroot-based, inclusive approach toward jihadist recruitment, drawing upon the writings of prominent jihadists such as Yusuf al-Uyairi. It remains unclear as to whether Chesser is representative of a new breed of American jihadist pundit-operatives.

Zachary Chesser, a 20-year old Northern Virginia resident and college drop-out, was arrestedin late July for allegedly providing material support and attempting to join Somalia's largest insurgent group, Harakat al-Shabab al-Mujahideen (Movement of Warrior-Youth; Al-Shabaab), a group whose leaders endorse the transnational militant ideology of Al-Qa'ida Central (AQC). He is better known by his nom de guerre, Abu Talhah al-Amriki ("The American"), using the name of a prominent companion of the Prophet Muhammad, and is a member of Revolution Muslim, a small group of extremist American Muslims, mostly converts. Chesser briefly attended my alma mater, George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.

Afghanistan Taliban Interview with Deputy Military Commander in Badakhshan Province

"Afghanistan: Producer of Men and Land of Battle...the Islamic Emirate"

Below is a translation by a cyber jihadi-takfiri of an article that appeared in the monthly Arabic Internet magazine of the Afghan Taliban, Al-Somood. The translation is run without edits.

Badakhshan Province, with districts shown

An Interview With The Deputy Official For Jihadist Affairs In Badakhshan Province, Al-Maulavi Fadl Ahmed

Question: If you would be so gracious as to present a brief summary of your biography to the readers of al-Somood Magazine.

Answer: My name is Fadl Ahmed bin Abdul Samad from the village Khashak Nadi in the Kishim district of Badakhshan Province. I was born in the year 1384 AH in my village. I finished the early stage of my education in my village, and then I began to learn Shari’ah sciences, spending one year studying between my village and the district center at Kishim. I subsequently transferred abroad to Pakistan and spent eight years in different madrasas.

Upon the establishment of the Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan, I joined it, leaving my studies and working in various positions. When the madrasa “al-Jihad” was opened in Qandahar, I enrolled in it to finish my Shari’ah studies. After spending three years there, through the grace of Allah, I finished my studies and earned a graduation certificate.

Question: We would like you to present a brief picture of Badakhshan Province.

Answer: Badakhshan province is located in the northeast of Afghanistan. It is bounded by Tajikistan to the north. China is situated to the northeast and Pakistan to the southeast. Within Afghanistan, Takhar province borders it on the west, Nuristan and Panjshir to the southeast. The province has an area of 44, 059 square kilometers and a population of one and a half million people.

Badakhshan province has 27 districts: Tagab, Kishim, Tishkan, Darayim, Urgu, Mobarak, Jurm, Hamakan, Karan wa Manjan, Wakhan, Warduj, Shahada, Zeebak, Ishkashim, Shignan, Yaftali Sufla, Ragh, Raghstan, Bawan, Kuf, Mayama, Shiki, Nisi, Khawahan, Khash, Shahri Buzurg, Arghanj Khwah.

Question: What are the economic resources of the people of Badakhshan province?

Answer: The people of Badakhshan province are occupied in agriculture, grazing and raising livestock. After Allah Almightythey depend upon these resources for their livelihood. Because Badakhshan is far from the capital Kabul and surrounded by mountains it is poor in commercial means. The people of this province do not have a practiced hand in commerce.

Question: In what areas of Badakhshan are your Jihadist activities increasing?

Answer: As is well known, the people of Badakhshan sacrificed their blood and treasure during the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan and spared no effort in driving out Soviet forces. After the Western occupation of Afghanistan, they took part in the struggle and continued their Jihad and sacrifices. All areas of Badakhshan have plunged into this battle and continue their sacrifices. The districts of Kishim, Warduj, Baharak and Urgu are among the districts where the battle is intensifying and Jihadist capabilities are increasing. The Mujahideen have been able to win great victories there.

Question: What about the cooperation of the people of Badakhshan in these battles?

Answer: The position of the people of Badakhshan towards the occupiers and their tail-hangers is crystal clear: they are completely ready to fight them and they harbor a ferocious hatred towards the occupiers and their henchmen. Some, who had been misled about the truth of the occupiers and their henchmen, fell into the trap laid by those seeking after power. They were paying no mind to the Mujahideen, but through the grace of Allah and then the efforts of the officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, they came to fully comprehend the truth and became ardent supporters of the Mujahideen. Indeed they announced their complete readiness to cooperate with the Jihad, telling the Mujahideen that they will supply them with all that they need of food and other material and that the Mujahideen must fight the enemies of Religion.

Question: What are the steps you are taking to illuminate the minds of the people of Badakhshan and inform them of the goals of the Jihad in Afghanistan?

Answer: Informing the people of the goals of the Jihad in Afghanistan and educating them on this Path is the core of our Jihad. We must take positive steps on this course and, praise be to Allah, we have strived as much as we can in this Path. We have conducted dialogues with scholars and some people who enjoy a great amount of trust among the people of Badakhshan to remove the chain of lying claims which the Westerners and their henchmen were circulating. Through the grace of Allah Almighty, we were able to remove doubts about the Islamic Emirate which were stuck in the minds of the people. Their doubts have been erased and they have come to defend the Emirate and declare that they stand by it and will defend it.

Question: As you know, Badakhshan is located far away from the southern and central provinces. Do you encounter any problems in obtaining military resources?

Answer: No doubt we in Badakhshan province face some problems in this regard as compared with the rest of the provinces. The province is remote and the economic resources of the people are weak and the roads used for transporting weapons are not serviceable. With all those problems, the people of Badakhshan province know the goals which the Islamic Emirate is trying to achieve, and they have come to take care of the Mujahideen. Undoubtedly the solicitude they have shown has solved some of the problems from which we suffer.

Question: Since the launch of Operation al-Fatah until now, how many military operations have you conducted against the bases of the Crusaders and their henchmen?

Answer: The zealous Mujahideen of Badakhshan have conducted more than 28 military operations in different areas of Badakhshan. During these operations they have killed more than 25 Germans, destroyed tanks and a patrol car. More than 35 henchmen have been killed during these heroic operations which the Mujahideen conducted. I mention for example the al-Fatah operation in the districts of Khishim and Kuf.

There is no doubt that the operation in conquering the districts of Badakhshan is a difficult matter but, through the grace of Allah Almighty the Mujahideen have through their great zeal and sincere determination conducted these operations successfully and overcome all difficulties.

Question: It is said that foreign establishments under the name of “presenting services and assistance” spread Crusader ideology among the people of Badakhshan province. What is the truth of what is said about this despicable activity?

Answer: This is a given. The goal of the Westerners is to raise a generation of people working on their behalf in Afghanistan. They spare no effort in achieving this goal.

Yes, in Badakhshan, as you mentioned, there are charitable organizations in name that work in the cellars spreading their ideas among the people. Through the grace of Allah Almighty, however, the zealous people of Badakhshan monitor the activities of these suspicious organizations and do not allow them their desired resources. You may know about the Agha Khan foundation in the Baharak district which for years has conducted activity like this. The people of the district learned about this vile activity and, under the leadership of the Mujahideen and the scholars, conducted protests and took to the streets, burning the foundation to the ground and killing some of its employees. Two Mujahideen were martyred in these protests, may Allah accept them, and three were injured but in the end this foundation was ejected from the region. Similar foundations to this operate but through the grace of Allah Almighty, they have not been able to achieve anything meaningful.

Question: What is your message to the noble people of Badakhshan?

Answer: My message to the people of Badakhshan who believe in Allah and the Mujahideen in His Cause is: know that the infidels of all sects and creeds have gathered and united to strike the Muslim Ummah. They have attacked our homes and wish to achieve their vile goals by any means such as democratic rule or toppling the Islamic regime in our lands. We must understand all of this and place all of our differences to the side. For the sake of Allah and the message of Islam, in defense of our Islamic values and in defense of our Islamic lands, and to expel the Western occupiers and their henchmen, we must stand by the side of the Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate and cooperate with them, support them and revive the history of zealous forefathers and not be duped by the propaganda of those who seek status and worldly wealth.

Al-Qa'ida in the Arabian Peninsula Statement Claims Attacks on Houthi Movement & Brief Primer on Zaydi Shi'ism, Salafism, & Anti-Shi'ism in Yemen

Click on the statement image to magnify

Al-Qa'ida in the Arabian Peninsula's (AQAP; Qaeda, Qaida) media outlet, the Al-Malahem (Epics, Epic Encounters) Media Foundation has released a statement today entitled "Statement about Operations in Defense of the Ahl al-Sunna (Sunni Muslims)." In the statement AQAP claims responsibility for recent bombings that targeted the Yemeni Zaydi Shi'i Houthi movement in the northern governorate of Sa'dah late last week. AQAP has previously referred to the Houthi rebel movement as not a Zaydi Shi'i movement (which it is) but a "Rafidah" (rejectionist) movement that is "wearing a Zaydi mask." The Arabic term Rafidah (plural: Rawafid) is a derogatory name used by some Sunni Muslims for Shi'i Muslims, who they do not consider to be Muslims.

The attacks occurred on 'Eid al-Ghadir, a day when Shi'i Muslims believe that the Prophet Muhammad during his final Hajj pilgrimage stopped at a place called Ghadir Khumm and named his son-in-law and much younger cousin, 'Ali ibn Abi Talib, as his successor. Sunnis believe that the Prophet simply identified 'Ali's excellent personal character and spiritual authority. In mixed regions, such as parts of Yemen, the day is a tense one, as Shi'is mark it with celebration but some Sunnis view it suspiciously. Additional readings from both Sunni and Shi'i authors on the contested nature of the Ghadir Khumm evens can be found HERE.

Zaydi Shi'is theologically fall in a unique position between elements of Shi'i and Sunni interpretations of Islam. Zaydi scholars use selections from both Twelver Shi'i and Sunni texts as well as their own books of theology, ahadith, and law. Zaydi Shi'is are believed to make up between 25-30% of Yemen's population of nearly 23.5 million people. A July 2008 report from the United Nations Refugee Agency puts the percentage much higher at 45%.

For a detailed discussion of Zaydi hadith scholarship, see the excellent book of a friend and colleague of mine, Prof. Jonathan Brown (Georgetown University), Hadith: Muhammad's Legacy in the Medieval and Modern World, a part of Oneworld Publications' Foundations of Islam series.

Yemen expert Gregory Johnsen, a Ph.D. candidate in Princeton's Department of Near Eastern Studies, has noted the possibility that AQAP has undergone or is still undergoing a "Saudization" process with the influx of a number of high-ranking Saudi jihadi-takfiri ideologues and leaders such as Ibrahim al-Rubaysh, Muhammad al-Rashad, and Sa'id al-Shihri. A part of this process may include the adoption of more anti-Shi'i views. Johnsen notes that the anti-Shi'i screeds from AQAP have been delivered by Saudi members, for whom anti-Shi'ism is more ingrained due to the extreme anti-Shi'i sentiment that exists in the kingdom.

Salafi interpretations of Sunni Islam emerged in Yemen in the 1970s and 1980s from Saudi Arabia. Yemeni students who traveled to the kingdom for religious education often returned having adopted Saudi Salafi views, views that include rabid anti-Shi'ism. A number of Yemeni Zaydi Shi'is, such as the influential Yemeni Salafi scholar Muqbil al-Wadi'i (died 2001), from lower social classes (non-sayyids, not descendants of the Prophet Muhammad and the first few Shi'i Imams) became Salafis in a challenge to the dominance of Yemeni Zaydi sayyids in northern Yemen. Salafism was particularly strong in traditional northern strongholds of Zaydis such as Sa'dah and Razih, as Yemen scholar Shelagh Weir has documented.

From my personal experience in 2007 in the city of Ta'iz in central Yemen, anti-Shi'i sentiments are also present there. I purchased a number of virulently anti-Shi'i books and multimedia CDs in the city and had discussions with several Ta'izi Sunnis who expressed anti-Shi'i (Twelver and Isma'ili) views. I regret, for academic reasons, not purchasing two texts on the "history of the Rafidah in Yemen." A number of Yemenis in several areas, though certainly not all or even most, I spoke with, both Sunnis and Zaydis, were virulently anti-Isma'ili and Twelver Shi'i.

ENGLISH: A-Qa'ida in the Arabian Peninsula's Ibrahim al-Rubaysh, "Between Islamists & Liberals"

An English translation of an audio message from Ibrahim al-Rubaysh (Rubaish), one of Al-Qa'ida in the Arabian Peninsula's chief ideologues, has been produced and released by the Global Islamic Media Front (GIMF), a shadowy transnational jihadi-takfiri media outlet. The GIMF produces many translations. Entitled "Between (the) Islamists and (the) Liberals" the audio message was originally released in Arabic on September 18.

Al-Rubaysh is a former inmate at the United States prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba who was released in December 2006. He was a student of the Saudi government's militant rehabilitation program before he left for Yemen in the spring of 2008.

The translation is below without edits.

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful

Praise be to Allah, Lord of Creation, prayers and peace be upon the noblest of the prophets and messengers, our Prophet Muhammad, and his family and companions until the Day of Judgment. Thereafter:

I send this message to every sympathizer of the Ummah in the Land of the Haramain (the Two Sanctuaries: Makkah and Medinah). I send it to the scholars and the preachers, to the sermonizers on the pulpits and the imams of the mosques, to the teachers and instructors in the universities, to the caretakers in the homes and to the jealous fathers and guardians, to every Muslim man and woman who prefers the commandments of Allah over all other else, and are not among those who, if provided a salary,, pay no mind to what is occurring to the religion. To all those, I send this message asking them to take it into great consideration. I remind you of Allah who entrusted you with your Religion and granted you guardianship over what is under your hands. As the Honest and Trustworthy, prayers and peace be upon him, said

“If the shepherd to whom Allah granted guardianship dies having neglectedhis flock, Allah will ban him from Paradise.”

I remind the people of knowledge of the covenant by which Allah bound them:

{ وَإِذْ أَخَذَ اللَّه ُمِيثَاقَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ لَتُبَيِّنُنَّه ُلِلنَّاسِ وَلَا تَكْتُمُونَه ُفَنَبَذُوهُ وَرَاءَ ظُهُورِهِمْ وَاشْتَرَوْا بِه ِثَمَنًا قَلِيلًاۖ فَبِئْسَمَا يَشْتَرُونَ }

“And remember Allah took a covenant from the people of the Book, to make it known and clear to mankind, and not to hide it; but they threw it away behind their backs, and purchased with it some miserable gain! And vile was the bargain they made!” (Aali Imran: 187)

If Allah had not made it a duty for us to give advice to Muslims, I would not have taken it upon myself to send this message.

To begin, I ask this question: Are you satisfied with the situation of society and its state of deterioration from which is apparent that it is heading towards an abyss? Each year brings more evil than the last.
Some will answer me by casting a hadith of the Messenger of Allah, prayers and peace be upon him and his household, in which he said:

“If a man says that people are damned, he is more damned than they.”
I will be characterized as a fear-mongerand conspiracy theorist but all this does not matter. He, who wishes to ascertain the truth, let him examine the situation without prejudice.

What will be apparent to those who study the situation is that the problems of sinfulness and corruption have increased and diversified to the point that the senses are inured to them. Inappropriate veiling of women has increased and no market is without it. Even the Masjid-ul-Haraam has not been spared from it. Cases of impermissible seclusion and its consequences have increased manyfold, and those who sit with the Committee for the Prevention of Vice and Promotion of Virtue know of these calamities!

The calamity is that our society has delivered itself to its executioner through carelessness or feigning indifference. You see society toying with it without arousing the least resentment, resulting in the appearance of all kinds of legalized sinfulness and corruption, aimed at transforming and westernizing society and effacing all that bespeaks an Islamic identity in societal customs.

As a result, we see foreign exchange programs whereby women are sent out more than men, and they are provided more jobs than men. An identification card for women has been instituted and a serious effort made to gradually enforce this upon them. We hear of a female dean of a certain college who refused to allow female students to take a test without an ID card and the judge who suspended a case until a female client was issued an ID card. It is as if they can do what they want: they will stop marriage contracts, the distribution of inheritances, the purchase or sale of property until the women clients are issued ID cards.
Another form of sinfulness and corruption, of which there is inundation of reports, is the employment of women as actresses and their work as announcers and correspondents on official networks.

Part of the legalized sinfulness and corruption that we see is the mixing of sexes in the hospitals, even though the ability to segregate the sexes is easily available to any who wish to do so. And if they claim that there is a need for men to treat women in some cases, why are the male sections filled with female doctors and nurses?

Another kind of intermingling has come, contrived by the king’s genius. He has realized his dream for which he has been waiting 25 years through the universities where men and women, male and female students mix.

Their plan is to spread corruption and transform society, but gradually so that society will not reject it. As it is said, “Slowly but surely”. Although in fact recent years have witnessed an acceleration in their measures, this will perhaps expose them quicker. Perhaps their haste is due to the fact that they feel secure. Those who think they are safe from punishment will misbehave! They do not fear Allah, and all past experiences have proven that there is no reaction from the people to be feared.

One of their cunning plots to introduce sinfulness and corruption is through claiming journalistic freedom. The beginning was when the Minister of Justice issued a circular to the Shari’ah judges requiring adherence to article 37 of the press and publication laws, stipulating that issues of publication in the newspapers are the purview of the Ministry of Information and not the Shari’ah courts. When the wolf is entrusted with the flock, the field has been opened for people to write what they want with no accountability or supervision, but of course this privilege is not given to all. It is only for certain kinds of writers. They write what they want, in violation of the Shariah, and rejected by our societal customs. Then many voices which are raised in response are disregarded, and with the passage of time, society becomes numbed to this issue.

The closest example of this is the women’s ID card. The newspapers wrote much about this issue, and much has been said about it. When the people were prepared to receive the blow, it was instituted. When its institution was accepted, the time came to gradually enforce it. The turn is coming for women’s athletic clubs and women driving cars.
Their increased audacity is derived from the weakness of those in the forefront of the Islamist movement. You see that a vast majority of the newspapers will not publish an article by them. As for those who do write in the newspapers, they do not even think of discussing these topics, because they know they will not be published. Nothing remains for them but the internet, and one or two satellite channels. As for the other networks, they seldom host them unless they feel that their words will serve their (the network’s) own benefit. When they do appear, their weakness becomes apparent. They expose themselves to shame and melt away with these changes to a shocking degree. Their words they use and the concepts they hold are almost identical to those newspaper writers from other ideologies. They now speak of nationalism, dedication to it, and identification with it, rather than jealousy for Islam. They have begun to utter that such and such is “against the regime and the law”, when previously governance was for Allah alone. You will but seldom hear from their tongues (any talk) of enforcing Allah’s law.

This calamity is not limited to the fact that they will not reject forbidden acts unless the regime also forbids them. Indeed the situation has become worse with many of them, in that they have come to advise people not to condemn forbidden acts unless the regime itself has stipulated that they be banned. And whoever openly rejects forbidden acts, they proceed to admonish him more than the ones who actually committed the forbidden acts. As for he who rejects the forbidden act by deed, this to some of them is a kind of open sin that requires public rejection of the sinner.

Sometimes you see them having discussions with the liberalists in meetings or on TV. Then you will see the weakness of their rhetoric and their lack of audacity. You will see each of the two parties claiming to be the chosen one. Each claims that the rulers back them and what they say, that the regime favors them, and they want to serve the homeland and the interest of the people. Frequently their argument in responding to an opponent is “I do not know more than those in authority” or “the people in authority know where the benefit lies”!
Before, during and after this, they try to strikes the right note to please their rulers. This is done by condemning Jihad under the name of terror. With some of them, it is like salt on food, or purification for prayer. They are afraid that if they are silent their mouths will be muzzled or their Dawah efforts impeded. The situation has reached the point where some of them slander lies against the Mujahideen. And if they talk about the liberalists, they say “My brother liberals”. You see their rulers smile upon them, but give them nothing but more restrictions and spread of sinfulness and corruption.

You see them rejoice because Nayef Ibn Abdul Aziz criticized this newspaper or that channel. They rejoice at that and repeat it, and perhaps they read it and cite it like they cite the words of the scholars. They know, and Nayef knows better than they, that a decision from him is sufficient to change the program of those writers, or remove those they wish to remove, or even to imprison or dismiss them from duty. So how can it be believed that the Interior Minister - who gave himself a status that none can question what he does, who intervenes to dismiss orators and preachers, who has the right to fire employees from their jobs even it they are outside his ministry, and who orders the detention of whomever he pleases and the Office of the Ombudsman has no right to look into cases raised against his investigations bureau - cannot deter a newspaper from doing what he dislikes if he takes offense at it?!

The matter that must be patently clear is that this corrupt clique of writers is at the beck and call of Nayef and his brothers. They utter only what pleases them. If individual transgressions are found, how swiftly they are dealt with.

The rulers of the House of Saud want to take what suits their fancy from both Islam and liberalism and leave the rest. They have therefore put in place red lines for the Islamists and liberals under their control which they are not able to cross. All o them move within these lines. And woe, woe, to him who thinks about crossing them. For example, the Islamists cannot speak of Jihad against the Americans as being legal as the Jihad against the Russians was legal. They are not able to reject the conventional courts belonging to the Ministry of Commerce or Ministry of Information. And who is able to criticize the vicious campaign of detentions?

When they speak of the co-mingling (of sexes) in King Abdullah University, many of them speak of it from the perspective that the country’s regime has not instituted it, and that their ruler does not know about it!

We are approaching what is called National Day. Is a preacher, a scholar or even the Mufti himself able to reject celebration of the National Day? Or even to cite the fatwa of the permanent committee prohibiting its celebration? And it must be taken into consideration that when the fatwa by the permanent commitment condemning it was issued, the day was commemorative only, marked by small celebrations. Now it is a holiday when all the schools are closed and celebrations are imposed everywhere. Changing the name does not change the reality of things. They are not able to criticize it. The vast majority of them were silent over the Rafidites’ violation of the sanctuary of Tawheed in the city of Allah’s Messenger, prayers and blessings be upon him and his household. How can any transgression be denounced when there is silence on the greatest idolatry which takes a person out of the fold of Islam?

The same can be said of the liberals. They do not take liberalism in its original sense. Rather they take from it liberation from some legal and social restrictions. But they are not able to announce their liberation from political tyranny of the idiotic Bedouin and his brothers! Which of them can dare to ask in one of their articles: why are the minister of information and minister of defense not changed like other ministers are changed? And who can say that the appointment of a second deputy prime minister abrogates the position of the Bay’ah committee? Who can say that what the Interior Ministry has been doing in detaining people for many without trial is a matter that violates the official law of the country? Which newspaper can publish even one issue that does not contain news of the official receptions and departures done by the idiotand his brothers?

The media establishments in our country without exception are subject to the House of Saud. They are not able to violate their desires and fancies, and they are not able to cross the red lines laid down by the House ofSaud. For example, when the journalist Khaled Sulaiman was asked: why did you prioritize the disaster of the floods of Jeddah over the floods of Riyadh? He answered that he found freedom to write about Jeddah, but did not find freedom to write about Riyadh. When he was asked, “Who gave you freedom for this but not for that?” He answered, “Ask the censor!” This is what the restricted journalist is able to declare. I don’t think there is any distinction between the two cases except that most of the officials in Riyadh are from the House ofSaud. They are above both the Shari’ah as well as secular law, as is well-known!

Rather, there are some journalists who you will find in their writings searching for subjects that will please their rulers. That is crystal clear in the writings of Abdullah al-Arayfij, who is nothing more than a scribe for the Ministry of Information in most of his writings. Indeed, he has even mentioned things that he could not know except through the tran****** of the interrogations conducted in the prisons of the secret police.

Faris bin Hizam is not much different, when he criticizes this preacher or that for not giving a speech condemning the assassination attempt on Muhammad bin Nayef. Regardless of the Shari’ah ruling, the journalist who respects his profession should not be compelled to say anything other than his own opinion, unless he is hired or belongs to one party.

As for Jamal Khashuqji, he is a man enamored with women working and driving cars. He wants the economy to recover, raise the level of income and cure unemployment by having women work and drive cars! I will not be surprised if, when asked about medicine for a fever, he answers that it lies hidden in women working! No surprise, because those people admire the West with all its faults.

Is it not time for the prominent Islamists to present their issues with complete honesty, to inquire about the disease and determine its source rather than talk about its symptoms only? And instead of speaking about Al-Watan newspaper, they should talk about the Ministry of Interior or about the regime which blocked the Shari’ah courts from ruling on media issues. Rather than censuring this writer or that, they should censure Abdullah and his brothers, for they are the ones who encouraged the writers and made this possible for them. The more assiduous in wrong-doing are the writers, the more they are favored. This is the case with Turki al-Hamad who curses Allah Almighty, only to become closer to the king and have his pen gifted to him!

Even judging them favorably, we would have to say that they approved of them and were silent about them. They were certainly able to stop this writer or that writer just as they were able to block any number of preachers and imams, even flocking many others into prisons. Why did they imprison Sheikh Khalid al-Rashid? If they say that he led a demonstration, why have they imprisoned others who have done nothing but issue fatwas supported by legal evidence such as Sheikh Saeed Aali Za’eer, and Sulaiman al-‘Alwan and many others.
The give free rein to the newspaper writers and owners of the media networks who have different ideologies. This matter of preachers censuring the scribes but leaving alone their sponsors is like the case of a man beaten with a stick. He curses and rebukes the stick, and makes a complaint to the person carrying it! If that person replaces the stick with another, then he gives him thanks and gratitude!
For how long will shut your eyes, feign ignorance and disregard the chiefs of fitna and the pillars of sinfulness and corruption in our country?!

This will serve no purpose other than to throw more veils over the eyes of the people as to causes of affliction and distract their attention away to that which will not be of much benefit to them. They raise complaints to the king against a certain minister and this changes nothing. In the best cases, he just replaces the minister with another who is no better, and the situation remains exactly as it was or becomes even worse; because the head of the snake remains in place.

Do not cut off the tail of the snake and leave it alive
If you are clever the head should follow the tail

It is true that the method of honesty shall bring down affliction on many, and will cause many preachers to thrown into prison. This is better than conferring legality on the chiefs of sinfulness and corruption, their matter becoming ambiguous to general populace causing them to accept them in their sinfulness and corruption.
Let us know that affliction is the way of the messengers. Allah has preserved our Tawheed from harm through the stance of an Imam of Ahl-us-Sunnah coming out openly with the truth in the face of the Caliph. The Imam suffered great affliction, but Allah preserved the sound ‘Aqeedah to this age.

One strong stance makes up for many weak and wobbly positions.
One sermon from Sheikh Khaled al-Rashid, may Allah release him, came out with the truth and caused his imprisonment. But it had a good effect and beneficial impact among the people. The people have been repeating this for years, whenever the occasion comes. We seek our refuge in Allah!

Our Ummah is in urgent need of knowledge. It is in more urgent need of truthful positions from people of knowledge. Books can suffice us from knowledge without declaration of truth. If every scholar is silent out of fear of affliction for himself, then the Deen is lost and truth mixes with falsehood among the general populace. Thus the fitnah grows, and no one is saved except who seeks salvage in Allah.

In conclusion, I send a message to every Muslim sister:
Sister of Islam, know that Allah ordains goodness and guidance for you. But your enemies do not want that for you. If you desire any blessing or honor, you will only find it in the shade of Allah’s law. There will you find the means of satisfying Him, His guidance and protection, and victory in this world and the next.

As for others, they wish you to be a commodity bought and sold in the marketplaces. The great swath of those who discuss women’s issues and have covered the newspapers and filled TV channels with talk about the situation of women in other countries fall into two categories.
There are those who are enamored with the West, and dazzled with its material culture, and want to bring to us everything from there, be it good or evil, and this is their best of the two types.

The (other type) are enemies of the Ummah, they wear the clothes of its friends, and maintain the pre**** of advising it. They speak well. If they talk, their words are listened to, but they are known by theway they speak. They claim to be giving advice, but it is as if they find no problems in the Ummah other than the situation of women! I do not know what issues they are talking about.

They keep repeating the demand for women’s right to work, yet women already teach and have climbed up the professional ladder reaching the post of deputy minister. They are also prison wardens and there are markets for women. Two years ago, a trusted source told me that he gone into a restaurant in a city where a woman was working in the management. Yet they still demand the right for women to work. Where do you think their demands will stop? It seems that they will not accept that a woman is working until they see her wearing a police uniform, sitting next to their colleagues patrolling the streets in patrol car!

O Sister of Faith, they wish for women to work exactly like they work in the West. We have lived among the Christians and we see how they treat women and how they work with them. We have seen women work in the army, carrying weapons and standing next to men. We have seen them go out in the morning, marching with the soldiers and echoing their shouts, and speak all you will about sexual harassment and abuse. We have seen women perform hard labor, carrying goods and unloading them, work as a blacksmith, fix and clean the sewers, and do even harder work than that. None of the men there even think about sufficing them from work, or at least helping them. Does this happen in Muslim countries?

Their women express great amazement when they learn that Islam compels a man to financially support his wife, even if she is richer than he. Some of those who have lived in their countries told me that one of their women asked him to find a Muslim husband for her when she learned that financial support was upon the husband, and it was upon the woman to raise the children.

By Allah, Sister of Islam, who is in a better situation, Muslim women or Christian women? In America, the Qiblah of those of our country who wish to go abroad, an American whose mother was an alcoholic described his situation. He said that his mother drank so much she was fired from her job, and so she has to stay at home unemployed. Her husband kicked her out of the house because he was not prepared to support her. She left confused and went looking for a job until she found one – in a brothel! This is the sort of thing that happens in their countries. O sister of Islam, would it please you to be like them?

There is nothing that prohibits a woman from working if it is regulated according to Shari’ah, the woman is covered and does not mix with men, and she is protected from temptation. Nonetheless, there is no more honorable and dignified work for a woman than her work in the house, rearing the coming generations and producing chivalrous men, leaving the pursuit of financial sustenance to her caretaker, who suffices her this burden and fulfills his duty.

Sister of Islam, in your home, you are like a king on his throne. You raise your children, and they become an asset to you. When you grow old they raise you up on their heads. Would it please you if we were like the West, where a woman goes out every morning to the factory or the store, and throws her child into the hands of babysitters to raise him? So he grows up and feels no connection to his mother. Rather he disobeys her and cuts her off. When she grows old, he casts her into a home for the elderly. There is a vast difference between us and them!
The home of a woman is her guarded kingdom. It is better for her than anywhere, even better than mosques. As is said in the Hadith:

“Do not prevent the bond-maids of Allah from going to the mosques of Allah, but their homes are better for them
Stay to your homes, Sister of Islam, and treat well those within it, you will find the best things from them, after Allah. Take care not to think well of your enemies. He who thinks well of his enemy has fallen into a perilous state.

O Allah, cover our imperfections and assuage our fears. O Allah, protect us from what is between our hands, behind us, to our right and to our left and from above. We seek refuge in Your Greatness that we not be slain from behind.

Our last prayer is praise be to Allah, the Lord of all Creation.

Afghanistan Taliban Statement about the Lisbon NATO Summit

"Afghanistan: Producer of Men and Land of Battle...the Islamic Emirate"

Below is a statement from the Afghan Taliban, which refers to itself as the "Islamic Emirate [state] of Afghanistan" (as it did in the 1990s). The statement is run without edits.

The statement is about the NATO summit in Lisbon.

Response Of The Islamic Emirate Of Afghanistan As Regards Lisbon Meeting

Zilhajj 13, 1431 A.H, Saturday, November 20, 2010

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

On 20.11.2010 ended the meeting of 28 NATO member countries which had been held in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. Participants of the meeting passed some decisions about Afghanistan. In response, the Islamic Emirate issue its stance concerning the decision as follows:

1. Seeing that the USA failed to get additional military assistance of the NATO member countries in Lisbon Meeting for prolongation of the war in Afghanistan despite her all-out efforts or at least get commitment to ensure long-term continuation of the present military power of the NATO member countries in Afghanistan, therefore, it is a good news for the Afghans and all freedom-loving people of the world and it is a sign of failure for the American government. In the past nine years, the invaders could not establish any system of governance in Kabul and they will never be able to do so in future.

2. The real solution of the Afghan issue lies in withdrawal of the foreign forces. Hence the NATO decision to start withdrawal of military forces from Afghanistan in 2014 is an irrational decision because until then, various untoward and tragic events and battles will take place as a result of this meaningless, imposed and unwinning war. The bottom line for them is to immediately implement what they would ultimately have to implement though after colossal casualties. They should not postpone withdrawal of their forces even be it for one day.

3. As far as the Mujahid people of Afghanistan are concerned, they are not ready to tolerate foreign invasion and occupation of their country even if it is for one day because of their firm determination. Nor they feel exhausted in the way of the sacred Jihad and the struggle of independence. So they will not remain silent even for a single night until and unless the goal of complete freedom and formation of an independent government is achieved. They will not wait for the time of implementation of a given decision or timetable of withdrawal.

4. Seeing that the invading forces which have come here from far-flung places, thousands of kilometers away, and want to set a timetable for withdrawal but still want to continue presence of their forces at the regional countries, therefore, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan calls on the neighboring and regional countries to take drastic measures for a bright future of Afghanistan, the Afghans, and all the region, for good relationship and reconstruction of Afghanistan.

5. The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has formulated comprehensive policy for the future Afghanistan, for efficient governance, security, Islamic justice, education, economic advancement, national unity, and a foreign policy that will ensure protection of the country against any harm of others and convince the world that the future Afghanistan will not harm them. The Islamic Emirate wants to take strong step in collaboration with all countries and in the framework of mutual respect to maintain bilateral corporation with all countries; ensure economic progress and bright future.

We consider the whole region as our home against colonialism and as a responsible force, want to play a role for peace and stability of the region in future.

IN PICTURES: 3rd Issue of "Inspire" Magazine from Al-Qa'ida in the Arabian Peninsula Released; Focuses on UPS Printer Bomb Plot

Al-Qa'ida in the Arabian Peninsula's (AQAP; Qaeda, Qaida) media outlet, the Al-Malahem (Epics) Media Foundation, has released the third issue of its English-language Inspire magazine. The magazine is believed to be edited by American Samir Khan. The inaugural issue was released in July and the second issue on October 11.

The focus of the new issue is the failed AQAP "package/printer UPS" bomb plot. The issue includes photographs of the package/printer bombs before they were mailed from Yemen to the United States. There has been some debate as to how close Khan and the other producers of Inspire are to AQAP's core membership. The inclusion of this images, if genuine, suggests that Khan & Co. may be closer to the core of the group than originally thought.

Perhaps most amusing is the claim that the great Victorian novel Great Expectations by Charles Dickens was included because the AQAP folks had "great expectations" for their plot. They clearly have not read the novel or even see one of the movies based on it.

The entire operation cost $4,200, according to jihadi-takfiri source quoted in the new issue. Dedication pages to imprisoned jihadi-takfiris including Zachary Chesser and Dr. Aafia Siddiqui are included. The producers also claim that AQAP downed a UPS plane near Dubai on September 3, 2010 in a test run of similar bombs. AQAP claimed the downing.
Instructions are also included for contributors.

Afghanistan Taliban Leader Mullah Muhammad 'Umar's 'Eid al-Adha Message

The leader of the Afghanistan "Quetta Shura" Taliban, Mullah Muhammad 'Umar (Mohammad Omar) has issued his annual message for the Muslim holiday 'Eid al-Adha (Feast of the Sacrifice) that ends the month annual Hajj pilgrimage. 'Umar is addressed as the "amir al-mu'mineen" or "commander of the believers," an honorific title historically reserved by Sunni Muslims for the caliph.

His 2010 'Eid al-Fitr message issued at the end of Ramadan can be read HERE.

His 2009 'Eid al-Fitr message can be read HERE.

The official English translation of the 2010 message is immediately below .

Message of Felicitation of the Esteemed Amir-ul-Momineen on the Occasion of Eid-ul-Adha

Praise be to Allah. We praise Him and seek His help, forgiveness and guidance. We seek His refuge from the whims of our inner-self and from our transgressions. Whoever Allah guides, no one can deviate( him/her); who ever goes astray, can find no one as a friend and guide (except Allah to guide him). We testify that there is no god but Allah. Alone is He and no partner He has. We also testify that Mohammad (peace be upon him) is His servant and messenger. Having said that, I would like to further say:

To the suffering Mujahid people of Afghanistan; to all believing ethnicities in all parts of the world; to all nearly and remotely- situated Muslims and to the Muslim Ummah: Peace, Mercy and Blessing of Allah be upon you all. My heart-felt felicitation to you on this great day of joy, selflessness and sacrifice. May Allah (swt) accept in His Sight the worship and offerings of all Muslims. Similarly, may Allah (swt) accept the pilgrimage of the pilgrims who are now visiting the Kabba Sharifa and the struggles and toils of the Mujahideen of the way of truth and of their supporters. May Allah (swt) bestow blessing, salvation and victory on the Ummah as a result of the endeavors of the Mujahideen. Ameen

Meanwhile, I would like to share with you some viewpoints concerning the current situation of the country and the world.

Regarding the Internal Developments of the Country:

The moments of defeat of the invaders have approached now due to the special victory and the sincere sacrifices of the Mujahideen. The enemy has been defeated at the battle field. Now they rely on media hypes and portray themselves as if making advancement but the ground realities are what you and we are witnessing. The enemy is retreating and facing siege in all parts of the country day in and day out. Their life casualties are spiraling up. It is because of this pressure that the enemy has resorted to spreading the misleading rumors of peace talks. Thus, they want to reduce the military pressure which is being exerted on them. But it was the enemy in the first place, who invaded our country, imposing the war on us, so the sole way for our salvation is the armed jihad in the way of Allah (swt). Our Mujahid people will never feel exhausted in the sacred path of Jihad, because it is a divine obligation and a great worship. Fatigue can have no way into it. It is a matter of pride that the Mujahideen and the people, like brothers, lay down their lives in the defense of their religion, honor and independence of their country. They do not give chance to the enemy to create split among them through propaganda and other covert machinations. The enemy wants to protect itself from the attacks of Mujahideen by creating local militia units and utilize them as a shield; we have paid special attention to this task and obtained spectacular achievements. Similarly, some internal and external enemies are now speaking of disintegration of the beloved country. They should know that the patriotic countrymen and the Islamic Emirate will never allow any one to put into practice their wicked plan.

Regarding the Puppet Kabul Regime:

The situation of the Afghan people and the beloved country is going from bad to worse during this reign of the surrogate Karzai regime. Hardships, starvations, poverty, homelessness, civilian casualties, various diseases, aberrations of the youth and cultural and social deviation in the name of democracy are touching its climax. A few hoarders in the high government slots have control over all items including the daily consumption items. This is being carried out under the title of the open market system. They are determiner of the prices. We witness this hard fact, that many miserable families of the country have been forced to resort to beggary. Corruption is at its epic. This is not what we say but the founders and masters of this regime admit that their puppet regime ranks 2nd at the index of the most corrupt regimes of the world. This is because the rulers of the regime have been installed by others and they are not interested in the future and prosperity of the country. They are only hankering after filling their pockets with money and fleecing the masses. Many of them have foreign nationality and do not consider Afghanistan as their own country.

The Americans are intending to keep in the country, a regime installed under the leadership of some westernized elements-- a regime which is extremely bereft of any resolve and determination; a surrogate only relying on foreign aid. Thus the invaders want to prolong their presence in the region and extend their occupation. Every Afghan in this corrupt regime has obligation to desist from supporting the invaders because of the current ordeals and tribulations that the Afghan Muslim people are passing through. They should not help their enemies of faith to destroy their home. There is no moral and religious justification to work in a regime, being puppet and traitor to its people. If they are not able to join the ranks of Jihad, at least, they can desist from cooperating with them. Thus they would perform their patriotic and ideological obligation. They should take care, less they may not stand shameful before their people and history and Allah (swt) on the Day of Resurrection.

The number of those who have left the ranks of the enemy has increased following our previous call to do so. This is a commendable phenomenon. We have instructed all Mujadeen to favor them with special incentives and acclamations.

Regarding the Rumors of Peace Talks by the Americans:

The Islamic Emirate still holds its previous stand regarding the current issue of the country. Islamic Emirate believes that the solution of the issue lies in withdrawal of the foreign invading troops and establishment of a true Islamic and independent system in the country. The cunning enemy which has occupied our country, is trying, on the one hand, to expand its military operations on the basis of its double standard policy and, on the other hand, wants to throw dust into the eyes of the people by spreading the rumors of negotiation. Claims about negotiation, flexibility in the stance of the Islamic Emirate, are mere baseless propaganda. The enemy wants to cover up its failure in Afghanistan by wrongfully raising hollow hopes in the hearts of their respective people. The believing people of Afghanistan and the public of the world should not trust any news report or rumor about the stance of the Islamic Emirate disseminated by any one rather than the leadership of the Islamic Emirate or the designated spokesmen, because such new reports are spread by the intelligence agencies of the hostile countries. Then the media outlets affiliated with these espionage entities, irresponsibly publish them with great fanfare. The aim is to play down the defeat ( of the enemy) at the military field through media warfare. But these conspiracies will never prove effective against our brave people and mujahideen as these experiences have already been tested.

The former Jihadi leaders and influential based in Kabul should know that, as the invading Americans already used you against the Mujahideen in the framework of peace council, they will again use you for their illegitimate objectives besides the puppet regime of Kabul. We can’t figure out why you are unilaterally coopering with the invaders? Can the present regime reflect your objectives of former jihad? Was the aim behind your 14-years long Jihad to let the place of the Russians to be occupied by the Americans?

If you want to extricate yourself of this dilemma and lead a life like a proud Muslim Afghan, the only way of honor and dignity is the way of the sacred Jihad and independence of the country. Come and compensate for your mistakes of the previous years by honestly embarking on the path of struggle against the invaders. This does not mean that every one has to join the stronghold but every one should utilize his capability in support of the current resistance. The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has comprehensive policy for the efficiency of the future government of Afghanistan; about true security, Islamic justice, education, economic progress, national unity and a foreign policy based on norms to protect itself from the harms of others and convince the world that the future Afghanistan will not harm them.

Regarding the Military Situation of the Country:

Our coming military programs will forge ahead on the basis of the climate of the country and the geographical locations as per the plans now at the disposal of the Mujahideen. The aim is to entangle the enemy in an exhausting war of attrition and wear it away like the former Soviet Union. This will force it face disintegration after dealing a crushing and decisive blow at it that it would not be able to hold itself thereafter. To achieve this, we have hammered out short term and long term plans. We are optimistic about the results of these plans. Our strategy is to increase our operations step by step and spread them to all parts of the country to compel the enemy to come out from their hideouts and then crush them through tactical raids. This experiment was effective in Marja, Kandahar and some other areas. Therefore, the Mujahideen should focus on their jihadic efforts more than ever and expand their jihadic operations on the basis of the given plans. They should try their best to compel the moribund enemy to flee from our soil. They should constantly and unremittingly remember Allah during the performance of their tasks and be sure that Allah is the ultimate creator and conductor of all affairs; and must have the conviction that their achievements are the result of the exclusive blessings and victory from Allah; should increase their worship and recite the prayers during jihad which the holy prophet (peace be upon him) usually recited. This will bestow on them solace and consolation and will strengthen in them the essence of trust, sincerity, humbleness and the desire to seek the pleasure of Allah (swt). These characteristics of a believer are an asset which even in worse conditions lead to a blessing and victory from the Almighty Allah. Similarly, do not forget the Islamic moral conduct, even for a while, during your journey on the path of the sacred Jihad. You should study the Jihad related affairs in the books of the Sayings of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) and in the laws of religious jurisprudence. Pay attention to the life and property of the civilians so that, may Allah (swt) forbid, your Jihadic activities will not become a cause for destruction of property and loss of life of people. Any thing that is not permissible in Islam, has no place in our military policy. Spread fraternity among yourselves and help each other during the time of distress and ordeal. Maintain close contact with the people, seek the advice of local influential and hear their constructive advice and consultation and put them into practice.

To the Young Educated Generation and Men of Letters of the Country and the Students of Universities:
As a young educated generation and men of letters (writers) of our Islamic country, you are the leaders of tomorrow of the country. Our enemy is turning every stone to spread their cultural and ideological influence over the young generation of this Muslim country and thus jeopardize our history, religious values and our future. Our religious and historical enemy has cunningly launched a propaganda drive, spending huge amount of money in order to gradually strip our young generation of their Afghan and Islamic identity. As a young generation of this Islamic country, you have an Islamic and Afghani responsibility to confront these hostile anti-Islamic and anti-Afghan endeavors of the enemy with all your capability of tongue and pen and indefatigable struggle. Do not let your historical, religious and cultural enemy succeed. You should know that the cunning enemy financially and extensively fund some sold-out Afghan circles in a surreptitious manner to flare up a domestic war on the basis of language and geographical locations. Thus they want to harm the identity and integrity of the country and take avenge on the Afghans. You, the young educated generation, should not become part of these negative movements. Instead, solely focus on serving the cause of dissemination of Islamic culture, independence of the country and unity. The honor of a Muslim lies in Islam and Islamic unity. It is you that are able to protect the pillars of Islamic culture and Afghani identity from crumbling down. The Islamic Emirate is your flank of battle and a stronghold.

The Islamic Emirate is proud of your support; your Jihad of words and pen and holds you in high esteem and praise. This resistance will increasingly boost through your scholarly cultural efforts.

To Peoples and Governments of the Islamic World:

On this occasion of Eid-ul-odha and on behalf of the Islamic Emirate and as a member of the world Islamic family, I would like to remind the governments and people of the Islamic world to forget the issue of the occupied Afghanistan and the miserable condition of the people of this country. You should remember that the Afghan people have played prideful role for the defense of Islam and Islamic world, offering numerous sacrifices in this way throughout different stages of the history. This nation stood as a wall of iron in front of the invasions of Genghis, Britons and the communist colonialists, saving the Islamic world. Today, this nation is entangled in a complicated trial and an imposed war on the charges of their professing (Islamic) ideology. Every day, men and women of this nation, fall prey to the bombardment of the invaders and their children become orphans; miserable people are displaced internally due to the operations and fear of bombardment of the enemy. The people are grappling with hardship and poverty. But the Afghans have embraced all these sufferings out of commitment to the great cause of establishment of rules of the Holy Quran and the defense of the Islamic faith. So the Muslims of the world should share and feel (their pain) and have conduct with them on equal terms as pious Muslim. Perform your obligation of fraternity( towards them) in your material wealth. The countries of the Islamic world should not feel as being a lien to the issues of Afghanistan, Iraq and Palestine and should not spare any effort in this regard in the framework of their foreign policies. They should consider the pains and hardship of these suffering people as their own pain and problem and play positive role in the solution of their problems.

To American and European Peoples and to Members of Parliaments:

Afghanistan is an independent Islamic country. It has a prideful history and freedom-loving people at the level of the region and world. This nation has not harmed the independence of other countries and, throughout the history, has not permitted any one else to take their independence. Now when your forces have invaded this territory for the achievement of some colonialist objectives and goals, so it is the religious and humane obligation of the Afghans to stand up to your forces. Think, if your country is invaded by some one else, would you remain indifferent in such circumstances? What do you think, should our people allow the invasion and aggression in their country and remain insouciant vis-avis the invaders? And should not they show any reaction in front of the aggression against their honor religious values, national dignity and independence.?

If you are an impartial judge, you would yourself give us the right to keep up the path of resistance against the invaders and even shore it up more than ever.

Availing the limited resources at their disposal and because of their firm determinations and conviction in their being in the right, the Afghans showed to your military chiefs and political leaders in the past nine years, that you, invaders, are not able to force this nation to accept your occupation. The troops surge made no change in the status quo and never will they be able to turn the tide, if God willing. Body counts of your troop’s causalities have spiraled up but still your political leaders and military chiefs stubbornly persist in their failed politics.

First of all, you should find for yourselves the ground realities and then study them. Ponder over them impartially. How long the governments and people of the world will tolerate your tyrannical policy and your demeanor of taking hostage the people. To relieve yourselves and the Afghan people from the weariness of this unjustified war, you have to put an end to the war as soon as possible. The more the war prolongs, the more causalties of your troops increase and the more its economic burden become heavier. Nothing more than this, you will achieve.

This is the country of the Afghans. The Afghan will not relinquish of it. The resistance will continue as long as the invaders are stationed there. You should review the historical facts to learn some essential points from them. It is more rationale to stop adding fuel to the flames of war by leaving this region. The presence of foreign forces on our soil, paves the way for intensification and aggravation of the war--consequent upon which you will have to face colossal financial and life losses.

To the Neighboring and Regional Countries of Afghanistan:
As an independent country, Afghanistan has been forced to wage a sanguinary war for the attainment of its identity. The colonialist countries led by America, want to turn our historical and independent country into a military base under various pretexts. It has persuaded some other countries to align with them and even have compelled the World Body of the United Nations to issue resolutions palatable to the USA. It has turned the World Body, defacto, into personal entity of America.

I urge you to find for yourselves the ground realities instead of listening to the futile propaganda of the colonialists. Do not forget your responsibilities in the way of independence of our oppressed country.

On the basis of its hypocritical policy, America wants to project our legitimate mission to defend our country and the current resistance as a threat to the world whereas they have no convincing proof and evidence on hand in this regard.

To end, I urge all Muslims to remember the families of Muahideen, the prisoners, martyrs and IDPs in these day of sacrifices and selflessness; they have sacrificed themselves in the defense of this venerable religion (Islam) and the country. Remember their orphans and heirs and behave with them like you behave with your children, particularly, favor them with a share in the joy of the Eid.

Once again congratulations on the occasion of Eid and may Allah protect you from grief and anguish.
Peace be on you all
The servant of Islam
Mullah Mohammad Omar Mujahid

Al-Qa'ida in the Arabian Peninsula Denies Saudi Government Allegations it Plans to Target Hajj

Click on the statement image to enlarge

Al-Qa'ida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP; Qaeda, Qaida), based in Yemen, issued a statement yesterday denying Saudi government statements that an attack by the group on Hajj security had "not been ruled out." AQAP's statement, entitled, "Explanatory Statement to the Community of Islam [Muslims] about the Al-Sa'ud's Fabrications," denies that the group has any plans to target the pilgrimage, which is about to start in the Hijaz region in western Saudi Arabia.

The group says in its statement, "The al-Sa'ud, in a desperate attempt to eliminate the Mujahideen, have invented lies about them, such as the statement made by the Saudi Minister of the Interior about the possibility of an act of sabotage against the pilgrims by the Mujahideen [which] is meant to tarnish their [the Mujahideen's] image with the Muslim nation. We assure the Muslims that we are against any criminal act against the pilgrims and we warn the Muslims about the application of the plan concocted by God's enemy, [U.S. general] Petraeus, which seeks to bomb public markets, mosques, and places of worship in order to discredit the jihadi movement. This plan confirms that the al-Sa'ud are in full cooperation with the Americans and Jews, as they notified them about the parcel bombs addressed to them [Americans and Jews], which led to Obama thaking the al-Sa'ud publicly for their information."

The statement closes with an allegation that the Saudi monarchy has "opened the door" for Shi'i Muslims to cause mischief during the pilgrimage.

The statement may be downloaded via the following non-jihadi-takfiri URLs:

The folder includes PDF, Word, and SWF versions of the statement.
