'Abdul Rashid Ghazi was the rector and imam (prayer leader) of the Lal Masjid (Red Mosque) in Islamabad, Pakistan, a center for militant activity and a former asset of the Pakistani Inter-services Intelligence agency. The mosque complex was besieged, bombarded, and eventually stormed by Pakistani military and security forces after a battle with jihadi-takfiris inside in July 2007. His brother and deputy imam, 'Abdul 'Aziz Ghazi, was killed in the fighting.
