Al-Qa'ida in the Arabian Peninsula's Military Chief Praises and Eulogizes Group's Martyrs in New Audio Message

Al-Qa'ida in the Arabian Peninsula's (AQAP; Qaeda, Qaida) media outlet, the Al-Malahim (Epics) Media Foundation, released a new audio message from its military chief, Qasim al-Raymi (sometimes transliterated as "al-Rimi"), who goes by the nom de guerre Abu Hurayrah al-San'ani ("one from San'a", Yemen's capital). Entitled "Thus, Among them is He Who Has Fulfilled his Vow," the new audio message is dedicated to AQAP's "martyrs," including 'Abdullah Hasan al-'Asiri, the young Saudi who attempted to assassinate the deputy Saudi interior minister, Prince Muhammad bin Nayyif bin 'Abd al-'Aziz al-Sa'ud, in August 2009.

It is the first communiqué from al-Raymi in a number of months. The Yemeni government of President 'Ali 'Abdullah Saleh (Salih) claimed to have killed him in January, but later admitted that it could not provide any evidence to back up its claims.

AQAP is based in Yemen and has a leadership composed of both Yemenis and Saudis.
