Artwork for Arba'in 1431 by the Lebanese Twelver Shi'i Political Party Hizbullah

This post features artwork produced this year by the Lebanese Twelver Shi'i socio-political movement and political party Hizbullah (Hezbollah, Hizballah) for Arba'in, the traditional commemoration forty days after an individual has died. In this case, the commemoration is for the third Shi'i Imam, Husayn bin 'Ali, son of the first Shi'i Imam (and fourth Rashidun or "rightly-guided" caliph, successor, to the Prophet Muhammad), 'Ali ibn Abi Talib.

Historical background and additional posts about various topics related to the martyrdom of Husayn bin 'Ali and dozens of his male friends and supporters can be found in my 'Ashura 1431 Occasional Series.
