Question & Answer on the Peshawar Market Bombing, New Monograph by Al-Qa'ida Central Ideologue Shaykh 'Attiyatallah

UPDATE (4:50 P.M., Jan. 22): AbuMandM reminded me that the identity of Shaykh 'Attiyatullah ('Attiyatallah)remains debated. Some, such as Prof. Jarret Brachman, have suggested that he may be the individual above, Shaykh 'Attiyat 'Abd al-Rahman ('Atiyah 'Abd al-Rahman), a leader in the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group who is now in al-Qa'ida Central's high command. The above photograph was not included in the statement.

Question & Answer about the Bombing of the Peshawar Market

A new monograph by Shaykh 'Attiyatullah, a political-religious scholar and ideologue connected to and promoted by al-Qa'ida Central (AQC), was published in the past hour.

He is not the first major transnational jihadi-Salafi figure to comment on the bombings in Peshawar, which AQC and Tehrik-i Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have blamed on the United States-based mercenary and military contractor firm Blackwater/Xe, the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, and Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence. Other commentators include TTP's chief spokesman 'Azzam Tariq and AQC's general commander in Afghanistan, Mustafa Abu al-Yazid.
