An Urdu-language translation has been released of the recently published The Morning and the Lantern by al-Qa'ida Central (AQC) deputy leader and chief ideologue Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri. The original Arabic monograph was released to jihadi-Salafi web forums on December 16 and was produced by AQC's media outlet, the al-Sahab (The Clouds) Media Foundation. In it, al-Zawahiri dissects the supposedly "Islamic" constitution of Pakistan, as he puts it, in order to show that, as he and other AQC leaders, including AQC leader Usama bin Laden, have argued previously, the country's government and military are apostate institutions that must be fought by "real" Muslims.
The release of the Arabic original and Urdu translation come hot on the heels of the English translation of an important monograph by AQC's rising star, the charismatic popular "mufti" (chief jurist), as one cyber jihadi put it to me recently, and ideologue, Shaykh Abu Yahya al-Libi, entitled Sharpening the Spears to Fight the Government and Army of Pakistan.
